Depression or SAD?

October 19, 2017 All, anxiety, Depression, Mental Health, Naturopathic Medicine, Nutrition by Aaron Van Gaver

This week has been a really crazy week for me; just not one of my best. I have been feeling low energy, low mood – and I swear, if looks could kill – I would have murdered a handful of individuals by now.

Why am I feeling like this? Why does anyone feel like this?

For me – I have to look at the weather — this week Vancouver has turned into “Rain”couver. I shouldn’t really be surprised, because it is what happens in the Fall in Vancouver. But with the cooler/wet weather, comes the “blues” for me.

Some things that will help keep me in a better mood:

a) Vit D 10,000IU (I need to start doing this for 2 weeks — it really helps my mood)
b) SAD lamp — I own and barely use my SAD lamp — time to get that out and working again.
c) B Complex – This has always been good for my energy and mood (taking during the early part of the day)
d) Fish Oils – 3-6 g per day. (I actually hate getting these down my throat, but probably a good time to start up again.

Now this isn’t for everyone – but for me and my SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) this works for me.

I was just chatting with the acupuncturist I work with — and she suggests I do some more exercise (yes that will also do the trick:)

Cheers,
