Catherine Zeta Jones is a very popular and beautiful actress. She has many well known movie roles. Her most popular movie roles include, The Mask of Zorro, Entrapment, the Haunting, The Terminal, Ocean’s Twelve, Chicago and Intolerable Cruelty. It is obvious that her talent allows her to take part in many different types of roles.
Catherine Zeta Jones is from the United Kingdom. She was born in Wales. She is of Welsh and British decent. She currently resides in Bedford, New York. She is also married to another very famous actor. Her husband is Michael Douglas.
Catherine Zeta Jones received the Woman of the year award in 2005. She has also received many other awards. Her awards have included a BAFTA award, one Academy Award, and 3 Screen Actor Guild Awards. On top of all of that she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2010.
Catherine Zeta Jones began acting at a moderately young age. When she was just 12 years old she was cast for the lead role in the musical Annie. After that she pursued a career in other theater productions such as West Ends 42nd Street. Her 1st movie role was in the 1991 French Fantasy film Les 1001 Les Nuits. Some of her other earlier roles included supporting roles in the 1992 film Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, and the 1993 film Splitting Heirs. She also starred in a United Kingdom TV series on the ITV Network. The series was titled The Darling Buds of May in which she acted in from 1991-1993.
Her film career of course started in her country of birth, the United Kingdom. She then transitioned into Hollywood mainstream movies with one of her biggest movies being Mask of Zorro in 1998. She was cast for the role of Elena Montero in November of 1996 after director Steven Spielberg saw her performance in the Titanic Ministries and recommended her to director Martin Campbell. Catherine credits the film as her breakthrough performance in entering A-list recognition.
Catherine Zeta Jones has a production company in which her 2 brothers help with. The production company is called Milkwood Films. Before fame at the age of 10 she was sent to Hazel Johnson School of Dance. At the age of 11 she was a British tap dancing champion. She also attended the Independent Arts Educational School in London for a full time 3 year course in Musical Theater. As far as fame goes Catherine states that with having one hour of television time in her earlier years her life had completely changed and she could not go anywhere because of her celebrity status on the United Kingdom TV show. Now she has become an A-list Hollywood actress.
