‘Dirty Dozen’ Cosmetic Chemicals – What is your number?
If I were to tell you that there are over 80,000 ingredients found in personal care products, would you believe me?
Ingredients that are industrial chemicals, including carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxins, and hormone disruptors. Things like plasticizers (chemicals that keep concrete soft), degreasers (used to get grime off auto parts), and surfactants (they reduce surface tension in water, like in paint and inks). And our Skin is like a sponge — just soaking this in.
How many personal care products do you put on your skin each day (soap, toner, moisturizer, shampoo, lipstick etc)? What is your number?
Mine is 5 (sometimes 6 -8 depending on season)
I have attached a pdf I found on the David Suzuki Foundation Website – check it out if you are interested in getting down to the science behind this stuff.
